What is the name of this Chinese Flower?

Does anybody know the name of this Chinese flower?


Its my friend's "Chinese name" but she doesn't know the correct spelling





Its pronounced "shet-moy"


it means a flower that grows in the winter in china and it never dies.





Can anyone please help me with the name?


Or is their a symbol?

Is this Cantonese or another dialect. Does your friend know the Mandarin pinyin version?





It seems that the first word might be a dialect word for snow?





There's an excellent book by an Australian called Peter Valder on Chinese garden plants. Maybe your library has a copy?
