How do you pronounce the flower name kalanchoe?

I think the proper pronounciation is calankoee, my friend says it is calansho, who is buying dinner?

How do you pronounce the flower name kalanchoe?
My hort professors always told us students to pronounce plant names however we felt comfortable saying them.

I have heard Kalanchoe pronounced cal-an-sho, cal-an-cho, or cal-an-co-ee. I prefer cal-an-cho. No one is gonna bust your balls for miss pronouncing it. You will, however, probably prefer to pronounce it the way your associates do so you are all on the same page.
Reply:I've worked in a couple plant nurseries over the years. I've heard it pronounced two ways (there is probably no official way, unless you speak Latin):

(ku-lan-cho), with the "ku" sounding like the "cu" in "cut," the "lan" sounding like the "lan" in "land," and the "cho" making the long "o" sound.

(ku-lon-cho), the same as above, but with the "lon" sounding more like the "lon" in "long."
Reply:Your friend is closer to the truth. It's pronounced: Ka - lan - shoe
