How do I find the name of a flower from its description?

I have been trying to find a web facility that would allow me to find the name of a flower from its description (for example small flower with mauve petals, yellow in the center, grows in shadows, flowers in April in the UK, etc).

I haven't been able to locate any such facility with Google, and wondered if someone could help me with this?

Thanks in advance!

Always beware of people who say there isn't one, because you can never prove a negative.

The thing your looking for is a botanical 'key'. This describes various features of the plant which allow you to follow a yes/no track until you reach the plant which uniquely fits your description. There are quite a number available in hard copy and I would be surprised if there was no copy available on-line.
Reply:There isn't one. For country walks I use Francis Rose's book, "The Wild Flower Key". For more serious study at home I use "The New Flora of the British Isles", by Clive Stace. The first of these two is excellent; it covers all species you are likely to find and is clearly illustrated.
Reply:I don't think there is such a thing.

You can buy wild flower books which have keys (which is what you are looking for) but the RHS assured me (2 years ago) that no such thing in paper or electronic form exists for cultivated plants.
